Buho Brooch

Our BUHO brooch inspired by the Taíno Megalithic Monument and Petroglyphs of Chacuey in Dominican Republic. “In the mythic beliefs of the Taíno, living creatures were believed to have a dual existence and could transform themselves, at will, into either people or animals. Some animals were thought to be tribal ancestors, and their strong sense of kinship allowed them to partake, to some extent, of the human condition.” (Levi-Strauss 1969, 116; Alegría 1978, 16)
