Our Atabey Brooch is hand beaded by Dominican artisans.

Frogs are linked to water and rain, essential elements for fertility and agriculture. As amphibians, they are also creatures of transformation, moving from water to land, which can symbolize the life-giving properties of water and its importance in sustaining life. Since Atabey is a goddess of fertility, the frog represents her power to nurture and create life. This association would have resonated strongly with the Taíno, who relied on rain and water for their agricultural practices.
